6  Types of Digital Asset Business Operators?

As  digital assets continue to grow rapidly, many people wonder who exactly is  involved in this industry. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)  Thailand has classified digital asset business operators into 6 main  categories as follows.

1  Digital Asset Exchange

A  center or network that facilitates the buying, selling, or exchanging of  digital assets by matching buyers and sellers, or by providing a system or  platform that enables parties wishing to trade digital assets to reach  agreements or be matched operated on a regular commercial basis such as Bitkub, Binance TH

2  Digital Asset Broker

A  service provider acting as a broker or agent to buy, sell, or exchange  digital assets on behalf of other persons, operated on a regular commercial  basis and receiving fees or other compensation in return such as Maxbit.

3  Digital Asset Dealer

A  service provider that buys, sells, or exchanges digital assets in its own  name on a regular commercial basis, operating outside of a digital asset  exchange.

4  Digital Asset Investment Advisor

A  person who provides advice to the public — directly or indirectly — regarding  the suitability of investing or trading digital assets on a regular  commercial basis, receiving fees or other compensation for such advisory  services.

5  Digital Asset Fund Manager

A  person who manages funds on behalf of others to seek returns from digital  assets, operated on a regular commercial basis.

6  Digital Asset Custodian

A  service provider that safeguards or stores digital assets, or manages  cryptographic keys* or other confidential items used to authorize transfers  or transactions related to digital assets — operated on a regular commercial  basis and receiving fees for the service.

*Cryptographic  Key is a unique set of data used to encrypt and decrypt information in order  to maintain data security.

⚠️  Note: This classification does not include service providers specifically  designated by the SEC Board of Commissioners.
